Research Expertise
- Environmental and Food Toxicology: Assessment of potentially toxic elements (PTEs) in food matrices such as milk, vegetables, cereals, and human breast milk. I conduct risk assessment studies to quantify health hazards from chronic exposure to heavy metals, especially in ecologically sensitive and high-altitude regions like the trans-Himalayas.
- Ecotoxicological Impact Studies: Investigating the environmental fate and ecotoxicology of industrial pollutants such as polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs) and magnesium-based explosives, with a focus on food chain contamination and ecosystem health.
- Water Resource Evaluation: Groundwater and surface water quality assessment for agricultural sustainability. I analyze hydrochemical parameters and use multivariate statistical tools to determine irrigation suitability and environmental threats posed by contaminated water in fragile ecosystems like the Sundarbans and Ladakh.
- Biowaste Management and Soil Fertility: Developing sustainable composting techniques from kitchen and agricultural wastes to enhance soil productivity. My research emphasizes circular economy approaches by turning waste into resources for sustainable farming.
- Nutritional Biochemistry and Public Health: Chemometric and metabolomic studies on human saliva and nutritionally rich food items (e.g., honey and eggs) to evaluate the impacts of lifestyle, exercise, and holistic practices such as dance and meditation on metabolic health.
- Interdisciplinary Approach: I apply systematic review and meta-analytic methods to synthesize global data on pollutant exposure, advancing evidence-based insights for policymaking and community health awareness.
